Well of course
youíre gonna get hungry, tramping takes up
quite a lot of energy. So pack a picnic for you and
your buds to munch on when youíre hungry.
Also pack some snacks and lots of fresh water. Keep
a sipper bottle with you in your backpack so you
can just whip it out whenever you get a little bit
thirsty. But itís pretty tricky when you get
lost. Youíre starving! But all the food is
gone! Itís a disaster, we know, but Kabluey
knows what to do:

Always
presume youíll need more food: Pack a lot
more food than you need. Think that you will need
that food when you get lost. If you donít
need it then thatís great, but pack it just
in case!

Pack energy bars and sweets: just in case you need that little
bit more energy, itís a great pick-me-up and
boosts your mood.

|
|
|
Find
a stream: try and find a stream. Make a fire and
boil the water. This will make it drinkable and
takes all the yucky bacteria out. But wait for it
to cool down before you drink it!

Yucky
bits of dirt in the water? Strain the water through
a handkerchief into a container. The bits of dirt
will be left in the handkerchief.

Donít
wait! : Water doesnít have a used by date so
once youíve found a stream, collect as much
as you can. That way you have enough water to last
you if you canít find the same or a
different stream.

|
Collect rainwater: if
itís raining make the most of it. Put out a
space blanket or a few containers.
