The bad zoos
Even
today, there are bad zoos in many parts of the world. In
Indonesia, there are zoos for tourists to go to that are
very cruel to their animals. Do
you think this lion is happy and healthy? Animals
are often alone in tiny little cages, that are dirty and
uncared for. They live for years in conditions like
this. Some
animals, like this elephant, are kept chained up, so they
cannot move. This elephant has a chain around both front
feet, so it cannot move from the one place. This
is why many people who love animals won't go to zoos like
this, and also won't go to circuses where they have animals.
(Circuses with just clowns and acrobats and horses are fine
- just not circuses with wild animals). They
think keeping animals like this is cruel. What do you
