Falkland Islands Dependencies

      Scott IL19-33

Stamps of the Falkland Islands were used on South Georgia from 1909 until 1944 and on the South Shetlands from 1912 to 1931. Stamps of the Falkland Islands with values higher than one shilling were used in the Dependencies from 1944 until 1954 when the Dependencies issued their own high value stamps.

Some Notes

In 1962, the Falkland Islands Dependencies became restricted to South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands. At this time Graham Land, the South Orkneys, the South Shetlands, Alexander I Land and the part of Coats Land belonging to the dependencies became a separate colony, the British Antarctic Territory.
