School Fair |

| Each year from late October through
early November, Kojimachi Middle School holds a festival to showcase the
classroom and club activities of the students. The event includes a choral
contest, theatrical productions, and displays of various kinds. Students
take the choral contest very seriously because classes compete with one
another for the best all-around ranking. The top-ranking class forms the
core of another choral group that advances to the Chiyoda Ward Cultural
Festival, where it competes with groups from other middle schools in the
ward.

In the choral competition, the groups have to sing two songs:
one assigned and one of their own choosing. The pianist and conductor
are also students. |

| The displays, covering a variety of
subjects, are organized by grade, subject area, or club. For example,
ninth graders display the Kiyomizu ware teacups they painted on their
class trip. Students in industrial-arts and home-economics classes display
items they have made in class, such as chairs or aprons. And the tea ceremony
club serves tea to visitors in the traditional way.
