Housed
within the walls of San Francisco's Palace of Fine Arts, the Exploratorium
is a collage of 650 science, art, and human perception exhibits.
The Exploratorium is a leader in the movement to promote the museum
as an educational center.
This
unique museum was founded in 1969 by noted physicist and educator
Dr. Frank Oppenheimer, who was director until his death in 1985.

On
May 11, the Exploratorium's 22nd Annual Awards Dinner broke all
Bay Area records by raising an astonishing $4.3 million in a single
evening.
In
an extraordinary gesture, Silicon Valley's Jim Clark, founder
of Silicon Graphics, Netscape and Healtheon -- and the evening's
honoree -- made the surprise announcement that he would match
the money raised at the Dinner, dollar for dollar. For more information
see the press release, or
visit the 22nd Annual
Awards Dinner Web site.
