There are several different waysin
which a volcano can erupt. A volcano may not always erupt the
same way each time. whichever way it erupts, death and destruction are often a problem:
Hawaiian eruption : Magma is filled with bubbles
of poisonous gas. If the magma is thin and runny the gas can
escape from it.This makes the lava run more gently down the sides
of the volcano. This is the most harmless type of eruption because
people have more time to escape the lava flow.
Strombolian eruption: When the magma is thick and sticky
like a tar, gas is trapped inside. The gas keeps bubbling up
until it explodes, splattering molten rock and ash everywhere.
Tha lava is so thick it oozes out.
Plinian eruption: A Plinian eruption is the most
explosive eruption of all. In this kind of volcano, magma is
so thick and gluey that it clogs the crater. As it cools down
it becomes a solid plug of rock. For hundreds of years the gas
builds up behind this plug then ....BOOM!
