Eggs and dairy products

Empty eggs may enter New Zealand if they have been fumigated to kill any pests or diseases.

Whole eggs are not allowed, unless you have arranged a special health permit from MAF.

Cheeses and butter aren't allowed in, because some of them may carry diseases. You can usually buy cheese from lots of different countries in New Zealand, anyway. These cheeses have been imported with a permit, so they are allowed to be here.
