When you see signs like this in the Australian Outback, you know that you may meet road trains.
The signs are to warn you how long they could be. |
Why is it important that drivers know that road trains are trucks with very long loads, pulling many trailers behind them?
This is the kind of country that they travel across, bringing important supplies to small country towns a long way from the coastline. |
The stone guard over the windshield is to stop stones smashing it.
The Bull-bar is needed because in the Outback of Australia the cattle stations are very big and a lot of them do not have fencing. So it is not unusual to find cattle or sheep on the main highway.
The cow-catcher on the bottom of the Bull-bar is to stop the sheep or what ever from going under your truck and rolling your truck over.
