Popeye the Sailorman

Popeye was a cartoon from a long time ago. Popeye was a sailor, and he was very very strong. His face was always screwed up, and he had a pipe stuck in his mouth. When he walked, he rolled from side to side, as though he was still on the deck of a rolling ship.

He was very very strong, and he could lift huge weights. The secret of his strength was that he ate spinach. If he needed extra strength for something, he would get out his tin of spinach and eat some extra greens!

 

His wife was called Olive Oyl. She was very tall and skinny, and had her hair tied in a bun at the back of her head.

Olive and Popeye had a little baby, and the baby was called Sweet Pea.

Many children enjoyed reading about the adventures of Popeye. He was always getting into trouble, but he loved his wife Olive, and his baby Sweet Pea, and he always rescued them in the end. Do you think you could write a story about Popeye, and how he ate spinach to stay strong?
