On
August 11, 1999, the Exploratorium will present a
live Webcast of the final total solar eclipse of
the millennium.
A joint expedition by the Exploratorium and NASA,
correspondents will be stationed along the path of
totality, sharing images, interviews, and other
information about the eclipse with museum visitors
and an Internet audience. The main vantage point
for the expedition will be Amasya, Turkey.
In
1998, the Exploratorium Webcast the February 26
eclipse live from the Caribbean island of Aruba.
Portions of the Exploratorium's satellite feed were
picked up and broadcast on television. CNN, ABC,
NBC, BBC, Fox, and others carried our
images. Over
100,000 people visited this site on February 26,
1998.
