Polynesia refers to a group of islands in the eastern part of the Pacific. There are many many islands in the Pacific, but only some of them are in the area called Polynesia.

Fiji, the Solomons and Vanuatu are not in Polynesia - they are in Melanesia.

Kiribati, Nauru and Guam are not in Polynesia - they are in Micronesia.
