- Wetas are nocturnal. That means they
sleep in the day, and come out at night.
- Weta look very scary, but they don't
hurt people.
- Their main predators are rats, cats
and dogs. They are also killed by people.
- Some types of weta are almost
extinct.
- When a weta grows bigger, it sheds
its old skeleton and grows a new one.
- Baby wetas grow from eggs. Their
parents are dead by the time the eggs hatch.
- Wetas today are pretty much the same
as they were a hundred million years ago!
