Visiting Don Campbell- his photos of our locust

Don Campbell took these photos of our locust with his special Nikkon digital camera.

The locust was quite happy to sit on the twig until someone touched it. Then it got a fright and jumped on to a chair!

The locust has rather an ugly face!

Then Don Campbell got out a female weta to take photos of.

All these photos have been taken with a flash. The flash helps make the insect stay still.

This photo was taken without a flash. The shutter of the camera took several seconds before it finished taking the photo.
