WHEN you are following a
tracking sign, continue in the same direction as the previous sign
until you get to the next sign.
It is very important that the last
person in the group removes the signs - otherwise they could confuse
other people. This means that items used for signs need to be able to
be picked up or brushed away, and the area returned to the same
condition (or better) as you found it. Don't use pieces of paper that
would blow away and make litter.
Tell people when to turn, |
1. Lay a sign every 6 - 10 paces, more often where trackers may go wrong. 2. Put signs at the edge of a path or road where feet and vehicles won't disturb them. Keep to same side of a path to help trackers find them. 3. Make signs big enough and different enough from the surroundings to be clearly seen. (e.g. A stone on top of another may not be seen if the path is a bed of stones!). |
1. Look carefully and
don't rush. Don't kick signs accidentally. 2. If you lose the trail
go back to the place of the last sign and look again. You
should find signs every 6 - 10 paces, so don't go running to
the end of the path. 3. If you are the last
to follow a trail, remove the signs as you go
along. Remove these signs if you are the last
person.
