Meat-eating dinosaurs, called carnivores, were often fierce, fast
hunters. A hungry meat-eater like the Allosaurus ate any animal it
could find. It would not even be afraid to attack an Apataosaurus,
which was twice its size! The Allosaurus ran on two strong legs. Like
the Tyrannosaurus, it caught its prey in its short arms and used its
big, pointed claws to tear it apart. That's why carnivore claws are
long, pointed, and curved back.
