The weather in China |
In Beijing, most of the rain falls in the summer. January is the coldest month of winter with an average temperature of -5degrees C. (This is a LOT colder than Auckland!) July is the hottest month of their summer, with an average temperature of 26 degrees. (This is fairly similar to our summer temperatures.)
Beijing spring is very short, and people used to say that when the last day of the winter is gone, the summer is about to set in. Summer is usually hot with lots of rain. Autumn days are cool with clear sky and gentle breeze, making it the best season to travel. As winter is severe, you need to put on lots of clothes if you go outside. In winter, you get snow in Beijing, and the lakes freeze so that you can go ice skating on the lakes with your friends. (Look at the Photo pages on this web site to see some photos of the snow and ice.)
