The Kakapo is a kind of parrot. It is very big, and it walks around the forest floor at night. It nests, and brings up its young on the ground, which makes it easy prey for rats, cats and stoats. It is a very unusual and special bird, and there are only 86 known birds still alive. They make a most unusual low booming sound when they call.
