The bellbird is a quiet looking little bird with a wonderful song. It lives on honey from flowers (like the tui), and also berries and small insects. It is more often found in the forest than in gardens. Like the tui, the bellbird pollinates forest flowers by carrying pollen from one place to another, and by spreading small seeds around the forest floor. You will hear the bellbird most often first thing in the morning, and as it is getting dark at night.
