Beatrice Faumuina
is New Zealand's top track & field athlete because of
her mighty effort in winning the world title in the discus
two years ago in Athens. She will be trying
to win a medal this year at the Olympics. Beatrice can throw
the discus 66.82 metres. This earned her the Gold medal in
the World Championship in 1997. She was the first
person in New zealand to win a gold medal at the World Track
& Field Championships. At the
Commonwealth Games Beatrice won another gold medal for
throwing 65.92 metres. It was a Commonwealth Games
record.
